Mitsubishi Electric Honored with IIRSM Leading Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award 2026

Mitsubishi Electric Middle East Africa and CIS Co. L.L.C. has received the IIRSM “Leading Sustainability Initiative of the Year 2026” award, recognizing its continued commitment to sustainability, safety, and responsible business practices.

Mitsubishi Electric Middle East Africa and CIS Co. L.L.C. has been recognized by the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management with a Risk Excellence Award for its sustainability initiatives, reinforcing the company’s commitment to safety, environmental responsibility and operational excellence.

The award was presented during the IIRSM Awards Ceremony held in London on 21 May 2026. Mitsubishi Electric was also the only elevator company among the finalists, making the recognition particularly significant for the organization and the wider vertical transportation industry.

Speaking to ELEVATOR WORLD, Mr. Haridas P.V., Branch Head – Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) at Mitsubishi Electric, highlighted the importance of the achievement and the company’s continued focus on embedding sustainability and safety into its service operations.

A key element of Mitsubishi Electric’s approach has been the introduction of a range of digital and operational initiatives designed to improve sustainability, safety and efficiency across its elevator and escalator service activities.

Central to these efforts is Mitsubishi Electric’s integrated Quality HSE application, which enables real-time reporting and monitoring of incidents and near misses, safety patrols and toolbox talks. The digital platform supports greater transparency, faster access to safety information and a more proactive approach to risk management across operations.

Mitsubishi Electric has also implemented several practical sustainability measures aimed at improving energy efficiency. These include the installation of LED lighting, upgraded display systems and automatic shut-off functions during idle periods, helping to reduce unnecessary energy consumption. In addition, the company follows proper waste-management procedures aligned with applicable regional requirements.

Receiving the IIRSM Risk Excellence Award further strengthens Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to building a safer, more sustainable and efficient future while continuing to deliver high-quality elevator and escalator solutions and services across the region.
